There are conflicting and sometimes contradictory dimensions to Armageddon. Some people are convinced that it can happen but it is unlikely while others are actively preparing for it. Given the choice, I would rather be on the side of those cautious people who prepared but later found out that there was nothing to worry about. It is infinitely better than not being prepared and then discovering that you have to cope without aid. Rather than laughing at the people who are preparing for Armageddon, you can learn a few things from them which will be of benefit to you in other circumstances.
A changed world
The premise of Armageddon is that the things that we hold to be true will be altered in the new existence. For example, law enforcement and the provision of food may not be a realistic possibility. Only those people who are capable of self-reliance will have a fighting chance of getting through it. There are many people who are not mentally equipped to deal with a situation where the things that we know to be true are not as we assumed. If you are prepared for every eventuality then it is possible to work out solutions that offer you a gateway to a new life. These are not existential things that are dislocated from reality. We have already seen terrible events in the world which could arguably be compared to Armageddon.
Instinctively we will try to save our lives and that of our loved ones. However, this is a practical consideration rather than one which you can abandon in the realm of speculation. For example, you need to ask whether you have sufficient food to feed your family for at least a month without access to the local amenities. These are the kinds of things that would be a matter of fact in the event of Armageddon. Use the current state of natural disasters as your inspiration and practice run for when the real thing occurs. It is important that you train members of your family to cope even if you are incapacitated in some way. Children need to learn basic survival skills right from the beginning. It certainly increases their chance of success as adults in an unstable world.
Helping the community
The third dimension of your concern is your community. Far too often the modern world has been rightly accused of being selfish. We live in gated communities where our fellow human beings are not welcome. This does not mean that you have to ignore the real threat of criminality within your area. However it is important to work together as a team. Armageddon can take you down to the basics and that is where you need the people around you to be functioning at optimum levels. You are not allowed to be a bystander when a major catastrophe is taking place. That is not how the human race will survive.
In this article, we are not asking you to change your belief systems or even to take Armageddon as a real event. Rather we are encouraging you to educate yourself and your community about the dangers that can occur at any given point. Hopefully, the skills that you learn will not be used but if you are in a situation that requires a response, it is good if you have already studied the subject.
